Educational Technology Workshop

Have you ever worked with Macbook computers before? Heard of the software program Inspiration? Comic Life? Garage Band? Do you want to learn what a Clicker is and how to use one? How about an Interactive Whiteboard? Or maybe a Document Camera/ELMO?

Join Title V Co-op Central for our Educational Technology Workshop:

Thursday, April 22nd
5:30pm-7:00pm
Central Campus
Bldg 2, Room 110

These technologies and more are the tools you will see being used in Broward County Public schools and other public and private schools across the state and country. To be an effective and marketable teacher you will need to be familiar with them ALL and be able to apply them to the classroom!!!

This will be an INTERACTIVE workshop to learn about these educational tools and how to apply them to YOUR future classrooms! We will interact with individual Macbooks and several software programs available on Macs, touch and learn how to use an Interactive Whiteboard and it's related software, play and interact with one another using a Clicker system, test out a Document Camera/ELMO as well as some Flip cameras, and MORE!

You don't want to miss this opportunity!!! Space is limited so be sure to come early to get a seat!

Mid-week Movie: Music of the Heart

The movie: Music of the Heart

When: Tuesday, 4/6/10

Time: Noon

Where: President's Dining Rm. in Bldg 19 - Go down the hall next to the bookstore. Turn right on the next hall. We are all the way to the end on your left.

This film shows the influence that one person's drive and vision can have on others. Meryl Streep plays real-life Roberta Guaspari who moves to Harlem as a single-mother and becomes a violin teacher. Working through racial and other barriers, Roberta creates an acclaimed music program in an area where many would have said it was impossible. Definitely a heart-warming movie.

Boostup

Did you know that 30% of high school students in the U.S. don't make it to graduation? Nearly every day 7,000 students leave schools around the country. The issues and distractions high school students deal with on a daily basis are overwhelming: family, jobs, peer pressure, studying/homework, violence in and out of the schools, extracurricular activities, teen pregnancy, and more!!

So, what can you do about it??

Visit www.boostup.org. Boostup is a website that sends encouraging messages to students to support them  in their efforts to graduate!!! It's simple and easy. Just visit the website, click on BOOST, and send a quick message of hope and encouragement to a student in need! You can also read about students in the program, statistics related to high school graduation, how you and others can make a difference in helping students graduate, and more!!

CHECK IT OUT!

We've already sent 3 boosts in 5 minutes today.... make a difference in someone's life!!
